Overview
The objective of this project was to overhaul the visual identity of Udinese Calcio, one of Italy’s oldest football clubs in the top division. I first revised the existing logo to better reflect the club’s heritage and aspirations. Then, I created mockups to establish a vibrant and cohesive identity. This rebranding initiative aimed to refresh the visuals while exploring the possibilities of partially or completely distancing the new identity from the previous one, ensuring a modern and impactful presence in a competitive landscape.
Approach
As one of the oldest clubs in Italy, its logo has seen some redesigns in recent years, yet it remains largely unchanged. I aimed to modernize its identity and usher the club into a new era. I retained the club’s colors while enhancing their vibrancy. The black, white, and yellow symbolize the club, while yellow and blue represents the flag of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region. Additionally, the website was outdated, and the Instagram account lacked a cohesive identity, prompting me to implement necessary changes. Regarding the jerseys, although they were the pioneers of black and white stripes, Juventus now holds a dominant position, making it essential to move away from that style and distinguish our identity from that of Juventus Turin.
